The Truth About Adam Gray

California Assemblyman Adam Gray pretends to support workers, but his record shows he will side with union bosses over the workers. Gray turned his back on thousands of farmworkers who merely wanted the same dignity and rights that other Californians have.

GRAY VOTED FOR AB 561 IN 2015 AND FOR SB 25 IN 2013. GRAY’S VOTES CONSTITUTED A VOTE FOR AN ORGANIZATION THAT SPENT MILLIONS OF TAX DOLLARS TO SILENCE WORKERS WHO VOTED TO DECERTIFY THE UNITED FARM WORKERS (UFW) UNION.

  • SB 25 was especially harmful because it allowed for non-negotiated government-written contracts to be forced on Latino immigrant workers without letting them vote on it and without first allowing judicial review.

  • The non-negotiated government-written contract that Gray wanted to be forced on the farmworkers would have stripped the workers of their protected right to continue their strike protests against the UFW and ALRB.

  • The law Adam Gray wanted forced on the workers was so extreme that not even Governor Brown could tolerate it, and the so-called contracts Gray wanted forced on the workers without a vote were deemed unconstitutional by the Court of Appeal.

GRAY REFUSED TO SUPPORT LEGISLATION DESIGNED TO PROTECT FARM WORKER RIGHTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY FREELY CHOOSE NOT TO BE REPRESENTED BY A UNION.

Gray did not sign on to support AB 3092, AB 3093, and AB 3094 in 2018. These bills would:

  • Decertify a union if they abandoned the farm workers for a period longer than three years.

  • Give workers the opportunity to ratify a non-negotiated government-written union contract before it can be imposed on them.

  • Make it so that the judicial review would have to occur before farmworker union election votes could be thrown out or cast aside.

WHILE OPPOSING THE VOTING RIGHTS OF LATINO IMMIGRANT FARMWORKERS, GRAY VOTED TO GIVE NEW VOTING RIGHTS TO MURDERERS, RAPISTS, AND CHILD MOLESTERS

In September 2019, Gray Voted for ACA 6 (2019-2020) – a Constitutional Amendment to Restore Voting Rights for as Many as 50,000 Convicted Felons on Parole; ACA 6 Appeared on the November 2020 Ballot as Proposition 17: ACA 6 (2019-2020), Assembly Floor, 9/5/2019, Passed 54-19, Adam Gray – AYE
